Tamim hit excellent fifty to cross 25,000 Test runs landmark of his career.
Tamim and Mahmudullah's brilliant partnership led Tigers for 173 runs.
Mahmudullah hit tenth Test fifty and score 56 runs before returning to the
pavilion.
Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh faced early batting jolt
losing their opener Shamsur Rahman (2), who was trapped leg before wicket (lbw)
of Chigumbura's delivery.
First down Mominul Haque built a good starting for Bangladesh with Tamim.
Mominul went to pavilion after scoring important 35 runs.
Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat first.
Bangladesh lead the three-Test series 1-0 thanks to a nervy three-wicket win
in the first Test in Dhaka last week.
The home side brought in paceman Rubel Hossain for Al-Amin Hossain, who
opted out because he is taking exams at university.
Zimbabwe made three changes from the first Test, handing debuts to batsman
Brian Chari and leg-spinner Natsai M'shangwe and bringing in Malcolm Waller for
Vusimuzi Sibanda, Tafadzwa Kamungozi and John Nyumbu.
The third Test will be held in Chittagong from November 12-16 before the two
teams begin a series of five one-day internationals.
