The
Junior School Certificate (JSC) and equivalent examinations slated for
Wednesday and Thursday have been rescheduled due to the strikes called by
Jamaat-e-Islami.
Examinations scheduled for Nov 5 would be held on Nov 19, the education
ministry said in a statement released on Monday.
Tests slated for Nov 5 would take place on Nov 20, it added.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting on Monday chaired by
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, according to the ministry's statement.
This is the second instance of deferring this year's JCS and equivalent
exams due to Jamaat's strike, called in protest against war crimes verdict of
its leaders.
The exams for Nov 2 and 3 were earlier shifted to Nov 7 and Nov 14 as it
coincided with the party's strike protesting its chief Motiur Rahman Nizami's
death sentence by the war crimes tribunal.
JSC candidates were to appear for the English first paper while Junior
Dakhil Certificate (JDC) aspirants for Arabic first paper examinations on Nov
2.
These tests will now be held on Nov 19, from 10am.
The English second paper and Arabic second paper examinations for JDC
candidates, which were scheduled to be held on Nov 6, will now take place on
Nov 20.
