A qazi
(marriage registrar) was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment for registering
marriage of a child in Ghoshpara village of Nandail upazila in Mymensingh on
Friday.
The jailed
was Nizamuddin, a local marriage registrar. Being tipped off about a secret
child marriage in the village, a police team along with local UNO Ohidul Islam,
conducted a drive in the village and held the qazi.
Later, a
mobile court led by the UNO handed down the verdict.
