Kolkata on high alert following terror threat

A senior police officer said they had been warned that the attack might take place at the port area, according to the PTI.

A high alert has been issued in the port area following the warning.

Two naval ships -- INS Sumitra and INS Khukhri -- docked at the Kolkata port have been withdrawn following the threat, IANS adds.

The ships docked there on Monday evening and were scheduled to stay there until Nov 6 as part of navy week celebrations.

Navy sources said the ships left for "operational requirement" and added that they had "no idea" about a terror threat.

INS Sumitra is an offshore patrol vehicle while INS Khukri is a missile corvette.
