Border Guard Bangladesh has been deployed in Dhaka as well as
several other places in the county as a security measure ahead of
Jamaat-e-Islami’s 48 hour hartal starting from Wednesday.
BGB was deployed on
Tuesday evening to uphold law and order situation, confirmed BGB public
relations officer Mohsin Reza through a short message service (SMS).
International Crimes
Tribunal-1 is going to announce the stayed verdict in a case filed against
Motiur Rahman Nizami on charges of crimes against humanity during the
Liberation War in 1971.
On Sunday, the Islamic
party announced a 24-hour strike for Thursday protesting the capital punishment
of its policymaker Mir Quasem Ali for war crimes.
On Monday, it called
another 24-hour hartal for Wednesday protesting the verdict of the Supreme
Court that upheld the death penalty of its assistant secretary general M
Kamaruzzaman.
