Technical
experts from India and Bangladesh are meeting in Agartala, capital of Tripura
on Monday to discuss transmission of power from the north-eastern state to
Bangladesh, a senior official of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd
(TSECL) has said.
“A meeting on transmission of 100 MW
power from Tripura to Bangladesh will start around 11 AMMonday in the
Pragnya Bhaban, Agartala,” said S K Roy Chairman and Managing Director (CMD)
TSECL adding: “The meeting will decide the route of transmission.”
New Delhi on Dhaka’s request had agreed to sell 100 MW power from the state
owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited's (ONGC) 726 MW gas based
Palatana power project.
Bangladesh had allowed to use its port and roadway to transport cargos and
turbines for the project
Earlier, it has been decided that the power would be transmitted from
Suryamaninagar power sub-station here to Comilla district of Bangladesh.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCL) will construct the
transmission lines and likely to bear the cost of the same.
The newly-constructed Suryamaninagar sub-station in West Tripura district
was erected with installed capacities for international power trading.
The sale of power is going to start after the the second unit of the
Palatana power project, which is on trial run, start commercial production,
most likely by the end of this year or early next year, said sources in the
ONGC.
