2kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs officials recovered 20 gold bars, weighing two kilograms, from the possession of a passenger from Malaysia at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.

The passenger was identified as Hashim Mollah, 35, of Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar.

Hashim arrived Dhaka from Kuala Lumpur by an aircraft of Bangladesh Biman Airlines at about 6:30am, said Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Abu Yusuf.

When Hashim was about to leave the airport through the green channel, customs officials stopped him and found presence of gold after scanning his luggage.

Twenty gold bars each weighing 100 grams were recovered from inside an electric iron, AC Yusuf added.
