Customs officials recovered 20 gold bars, weighing two kilograms, from the possession of a passenger from Malaysia at Hazrat
Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.
The passenger was identified as Hashim Mollah, 35, of Teknaf
upazila in Cox's Bazar.
Hashim arrived Dhaka from Kuala Lumpur by an aircraft of
Bangladesh Biman Airlines at about 6:30am, said Assistant Commissioner
(Customs) Abu Yusuf.
When Hashim was about to leave the airport through the green
channel, customs officials stopped him and found presence of gold after
scanning his luggage.
Twenty gold bars each weighing 100 grams were recovered from
inside an electric iron, AC Yusuf added.
